D3 comes from fish gut or sheep wool. It is added to pet food and is in your multivitamins humans! D2 comes from mushrooms and is a safe alternative, or you know... keep your pets by a window.

Read labels and don't let technical terms like D3 fool you into not realizing animal products were used.
