City Trees by Herbivoree City Trees by Herbivoree
City trees just creep me out, especially when it's one tree in an island of concrete and asphalt. Then of course you get the wood chips to contain the completely the tree and the soil in the completely unnatural setting and my head just starts to spin.

I am happy to share and have a dialogue about my artwork, but I will not debate. Please note me if you'd like to use this anywhere. I love to share.

They use the trees to suck in the pollution and make a better air quality. kinda sucks that the trees are made to breathe it in so we could go on polluting the cities

i agree, i love parks and the little spots in our town where several trees stand in groups in small "green" areas (to small to be called parks :D) but whenever i see one of these poor single isolated trees it makes me sad somehow :sniff: and your picture brings this depressed feeling across perfectly :blowkiss: still i find trees a very important part of the cities :)

Trees by themselves in the middle of urban settings seem a little out of place.. However, I don't mind roof gardens :)

I love roof gardens! I think the difference is that trees stuck in concrete give the illusion that there is some nature there but it's so restrained that I can't imagine it's helpful, whereas roof gardens welcome all sorts of nature (be it insects, grasses, shrubs, flowers and trees) and can still carry out natural processes like water holding.

Right, to me, it's sort of a mixed and confusing message seeing skimpy trees in the middle of busy intersections.. Especially how some trees can't even stand up on their own, and need the support of poles and wires in order to keep them from falling. It's just not natural, and I actually feel bad for those trees, believe it or not. Atleast roofs can provide a rich and bountiful botanic homestead for vegetation to grow, away from potential abuse from pedestrians by trash or litter, or over exposure to pollution.

yeah, using trees as a decoration is not a reasonable thing

in my opinion tress are still needed in cities, actually there should be much more of them, then air would be cleaner
but yeah, they are kept in terrible conditions
